EC+BOD+Earthquake Relief Team meeting decided by simple majority to donate all funds to Nepal Government (PM Disaster Relief Fund). Everyone presented
their ideas on how the funds NSS collected so far will be spent. Other ideas presented in the meeting were:

  • Select one Non-Government Oorganization and work with that organization to help with reconstruction effort, and give the funds to that organization in installments.

  • Split the fund between Government and NonGovernment Organization.

NSS will still be a platform for groups or persons conducting fundraiser for specific non profit organization(s) in Nepal with prior notice to NSS.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Nepal Earthquake victims. We join the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans are sending an urgent letter to the Department of Homeland Security to grant Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and to extend other immigration-related relief to Nepal in the wake of last weekend’s tragic earthquake. The sign on letter is attached.

(Individuals interested in showing support are urged to sign the White House petition: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/designate-nepal-temporary-protected-status-tps-save-peoples-lives-devastating-earthquake).
