Combined Picnic of NCSBC/Canada, NSS/Seattle/WA and NAO/Oregon:

It is that time of year when Nepal Seattle Society(NSS), Nepal Association of Oregon(NAO), and Nepal Cultural Society of BC(NCSBC) make their annual picnic gathering. This will be our 5th Pacific Northwest Nepali Jamghat which is being hosted by Nepal Seattle Society in Seattle, Washington.

Nepal Seattle Society (NSS) proudly invites all of you to the 5th Pacific Northwest Nepali Jamghat/Picnic in Seattle on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Lake Sammamish State Park. Lake Sammamish State Park is a great picnic place and we will have lots of fun games for adults and children. Let us make this picnic a great end to the summer. It is not often we see each other so let us meet, greet and enjoy each other’s company.

Games:
These games will be organized at the picnic between NSS, NAO, and NCSBC -
Volleyball Tournament with Running Shield, Tug-of-war, and Kabaddi for adults. And, Pinata forne, 3 legged race, Drawings, and face painting for children. Games will be co-ordinated by Krishna Gurung, Diwakar Thapa and Kiran Shrestha.

Prizes:
1 Running Shield, Seattle T-shirts/Hats, Candy and crayons.

Singing/Dancing: We will have a Karaoke singing machine. You are welcome to bring your karaoke CDs (Audio only) to sing with - we would love to dance on your songs. Also, please bring some nice Nepali folk songs of your choice to play and dance. If you are interested in Antakshari, we will arrange that as well. Double microphones will be available.

Food/Beverages: Because this is a Potluck Picnic, below is the list of food & beverage for each family to bring. Please remember alcohol is not allowed in the park. If you have any suggestions regarding the food please call or write to us. Our guests from Oregon and Canada do not need to bring any food/beverages.

1) NSS:
BBQ Chicken and Pork
Plates, Spoons, Forks and Napkins
Drinking water
Rice will be coocked at the shelter

2) East Side:
Kirkland - Vegetable Curry
Bellevue - Vegetable Curry
Redmond - Vegetable Curry
Mercer Island - Aalu Dumm
Issaquah - Saag (Green)
Other East side - Achar & Snacks

3) West Side:
West Seattle/Alki area - Achar & Snacks
Magnolia/Ballard - Fruits & Snacks

4) North Side:
Shoreline/Edmonds/Mt.Lake Terrace - Aalu-Gopi
Everett/Lynnwood - Aalu-Gopi
Greenwood/Greenlake - Aalu-Gopi
Bothell/Lake City - Chowmein
University District - Chowmein

5) South Side:
Renton - Aalu Dumm
Kent - Aalu Dumm
South Seattle - Desserts
Sea-Tac/Federal Way - Green Salad(Cucumber/Carrot)

6) Other Area:
Rainier/Bacon Hill/Capiton Hill - Saag (Green)
D.T.Seattle/Queen Anne - Green Salad & Soft Drinks
Others - Desserts, Snacks and Soft Drinks

If anyone wants to bring other items in addition to the above food items they are more than welcome.


No Alcohol: No alcohol is allowed in the park.

Driving Direction:
The park is located one mile northwest of the City of Issaquah and on the south end of Lake Sammamish. On Interstate highway 90 take exit 15 and go north to NW Sammamish Road which is about one block. Turn left and travel approx. ¼ mile to the park entrance on the right. Look for the first picnic shelter on the right after the entrance. We will put up our flag and balloons for a land mark.
